Everybody makes mistakes...even Stephen Hawking.

The famous theory of esteemed theoretical physicist Stephen Hawking about the origin of the universe has recently been disproved by a Mexican astrophysicist, according to a Remezcla article.

Astrophysicist Leticia Corral reportedly earned an award from the International Association of Engineers for going against and correcting Stephen Hawking's theory.

According to Mexican news publication Deconstrucción, Dr. Corral said, "I believe that the universe is cyclical, that everything started from one point and that it returns to that."

According to Stephen Hawking in his lecture on the Beginning of Time, "The conclusion of this lecture is that the universe has not existed forever. Rather, the universe, and time itself, had a beginning in the Big Bang, about 15 billion years ago. The beginning of real time, would have been a singularity, at which the laws of physics would have broken down."

Hawking added: "Nevertheless, the way the universe began would have been determined by the laws of physics, if the universe satisfied the no boundary condition. This says that in the imaginary time direction, space-time is finite to an extent, but doesn't have any boundary or edge. The predictions of the no boundary proposal seem to agree with observation. The no boundary hypothesis also predicts that the universe will eventually collapse again."

He also said that because of the contracting phase, which won't allow time's opposite arrow to go to the expanding phase, every one of us can never return to our youth, and we will simply keep growing old.

The story of how Hawking answered the questions "Why are we here? Where did we come from?" has been made into a movie in 2014 called "The Theory of Everything." The film, helmed by Director James Marsh, won tons of awards at BAFTA, the Academy Awards and the Golden Globes. Eddie Redmayne, who starred in the lead role as Professor Stephen Hawking, won the Academy Award for Best Actor, the Screen Actors Guild Award for outstanding performance by a Male Actor in a Leading Role, the BAFTA Best Actor in a Leading Role, Golden Globe Award for Best Actor in a Drama Motion Picture and Academy Award for Best Actor.

Corral's theory, meanwhile, says that Hawking made a mistake since he apparently forgot to take asymmetry into account in the definition of time.
