It's impossible not to go "aww" after seeing this.

A video of a raccoon dropping his cotton candy in the water is going viral. However, apart from the joy that the video is bringing due to the adorable animal, it's also crushing the heart of humans who are seeing it.

It looked like the saddest day for the raccoon in the video.

The heart-breaking footage is believed to have been taken in the United States, according to the Daily Mail.

First, the furry creature is shown discovering a roll of cotton candy lying on the road. Undoubtedly, it made the adorable animal elated at the discovery. The video clip then shows the raccoon holding (we're assuming contentedly) the sweet treat between its teeth and front paws.

However, to the dismay of the internet world and the person behind the camera, the oh-so-sweet prize was too good to be true.

It's heart wrenching.

What is seen next in the video is the harrowing moment when the critter finds itself losing the cotton candy after it drops the treat in a puddle of water seconds later.

The raccoon doesn't give up though. The courageous animal tries its best to find the fallen food, albeit in panic.

Alas, the tasty treat could no longer be tasted by the four-legged mammal. It admits defeat as the candy floss disappears and dissolves away in the water.

The sad event of the raccoon dropping the cotton candy in the water even turned some people into a mess of melancholy, just like a writer from Refinery who said:
