Motorola has slowly tries to broaden the coverage of devices of models pegged to get the Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS update and it seems that such is happening as we speak.

The latest word is that the Moto X 2nd Gen Pure Edition is finally receiving the update which according to Phandroid comes a bit late if one compares it to last year where Motorola became the first OEM to get the previous Android Lollipop update over the Nexus line of devices.

But of course, there were a lot of “unforeseen” events that have happened through the year that includes layoffs which could have affected the work tied up on making the update available.

Regardless of those unfortunate factors, the important thing is that the update is finally rolling out for the Moto X 2nd Gen Pure Edition owners.

And apparently such has been occurring via global niche with reports that the Android 6.0 M has been hitting regions such as Brazil, Canada and Finland. Android Police adds that regions such as Germany, Bulgaria and the United Kingdom are also getting their updates already.

The update is about 884 MB in size, something that may take some time to download completely. So like before, folks who may find the update available may want to make sure that they have a reliable Internet connection and a properly charged device for the update to be downloaded and applied properly.

A post earlier this month revealed the list of Motorola devices pegged to get the said Android 6.0 M update. For those who missed that one and want to check if their Motorola devices will be getting that Android 6.0 M bump at all, you can view that list here.

As pointed out as well, be reminded that there is a possibility that this post could be appended. Apparently evaluations are still ongoing for the said patch.

For the ones curious about the update, Android 6.0 Marshmallow will feature a new battery life management feature courtesy of the Doze app, something that should make the device last longer.

Other notable features include that of better permissions for third party apps and improved expandable storage where SD cards can now be used to store and run apps. Volume controls for the device will also be better (alarms and media) and of course the expected bug fixes and security updates expected from latest Android OS updates.

Just in case it hasn’t prompted you yet, simply head on over to the device settings, select “About Phone” and click on system updates.
