Despite an awful run in the Premier League and making the wrong kind of history as the first UEFA Champions League to be eliminated in the group stage the following year, Chelsea is ready to make its debut on the World Stage.

On Thursday morning at 5:30 AM EST, Rafael Benitez's side plays in the semi-final of the Club World Cup against Mexican side Monterrey. As of late Wednesday night, Benitez has not stated who he will start, though he has made it clear that he will field the best possible team. As a result of the match, Chelsea's EPL match against Southampton was postponed so Benitez should not have to worry about having his best group on the field to start the match.

Their opponent will be Mexican club Monterrey which has had an up and down season in the Mexican league. They are currently seventh in the league with 23 points, five wins, eight draws, and four losses. Their coach Manuel Vecetich has stated that to be Chelsea would be the greatest moment in the club's history, so there should be no doubt that they will be aggressive.

The winner takes on the Corinthians of the Brazilian league on Sunday in the Club World Cup Final.

Prediction: Chelsea should win this easily, but with their inconsistencies over the last few months anything is possible. 3-1 Chelsea.

Start Time: 5:30 AM EST
