This is the week that "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" finally arrives in theaters, after more than a year's tease. You're so close to seeing it you can actually seem to taste the dry sand blowing through that desert scenery in past trailers.
And now that some people have actually seen the movie at its December 14 premiere, you can't help wondering how what they thought of the film.
If you're the kind who hates spoilers, fear not - the first 1,000 people who saw the J.J. Abrams-directed installment were instructed not to reveal important aspects of the film. As such, they gave pretty much spoiler-free reviews. And they're very reassuring.
"Initial reactions from all three screening rooms where the film was shown for the first time - as well as from social media - suggest that JJ Abrams has the chops to please both critics and fans, and that 'The Force Awakens' may well recoup at least half the $4bn by itself," The Guardian observed.
"A consensus quickly emerged: whether Abrams had killed it, nailed it or just done it, this was a job executed decently," the British publication added.
The Hollywood Reporter's Matthew Belloni was reportedly among the first to tweet about the aftermath of "The Force Awakens," which took place only after the film was shown as cellphones were confiscated during the premiere.
"Star Wars premiere just letting out now. A LOT of smiling faces," the THR journalist tweeted.
"Amazing!Amazing!Amazing! In awe. It's all you want it to be. Old/new/funny/heartbreaking. Daisy Ridley is astonishing!" gushed Fred Savage on Twitter.
Actor Rob Lowe, who managed to attend the premiere, was all praises for John Boyega, revealing he "cried like a baby" during the viewing.
Meanwhile, "Finding Nemo" director Andrew Stanton merely commented that the film was "great." Elizabeth Banks, "Pitch Perfect 2" director and "Hunger Games" actress, said that the film "totally" delivered.
One audience member noted that Ridley took the top spot in the order of cast prominence, followed by Harrison Ford, BB-8, Boyega, and Driver.
LA Times' Rebecca Keegan reassured her followers on Twitter that the new "Star Wars" is female friendly, The Guardian relayed.
"'Star Wars: The Force Awakens' spoke to my every emotion. Most of them good, a few not, but overall it was an amazing, overwhelming experience," tweeted io9.com reporter Germain Lussier.
It appears that Abrams saw these reactions coming, as he didn't reveal nerves during the premiere and even said he was "very confident about the work that was done by the actors," as reported by CNN.
