The "Xena: Warrior Princess" reboot seems to be getting nearer and nearer, as NBC has hired Javier Grillo-Marxuach to write the scripts for the series.

The Hollywood Reporter states that Marxauch was part of the 2004 team that won an Emmy for the show "Lost". The writer will be working closely with "Xena" co-creators Rob Tapert and Sam Raimi, who are returning to the show after almost 15 years since the last episode aired.

According to Comic Book Resources, Marxuach's involvement in the show has been rumored since last August 2015, but NBC only made the official announcement just recently.

With the confirmation that NBC is now moving forward with the "Xena" reboot, fans will now begin to question what Xena is actually like. Considering that Lucy Lawless is currently on another project of Raimi's "Ash vs. Evil Dead", the actress may not be available to play the warrior princess.

Moreover, in the last episode of "Xena: Warrior Princess", having the character die a horrible death at the hands of Warlords can't help as well.

While both Tapert and Raimi have gone on record saying that they would love to have Lawless back in some way for the "Xena" reboot, they are fully aware that the new Xena most likely will be played by someone else.

The rumor about the new Xena is that the studio is going for a more modern look for the character, and that the network hopes to blend aspects from Jennifer Lawrence's Katniss Everdeen from the "Hunger Games" franchise and Lucy Lawless' original Xena.

The return of the "Xena" franchise only solidifies the fact that networks are looking into more established series to reboot rather than going on a limb and creating newer series.

Fox has allowed the "X-Files" to return on television, and there are already talks for a "Prison Break" reboot. CBS has confirmed that they will be allowing "Limitless" to return as well as a "Rush Hour" TV series come mid-season.

Currently, not much else is known about the "Xena: Warrior Princess" reboot, no cast has been confirmed yet, and the scripts are still being written.

What is known is that NBC is looking to have the series premiere sometime in 2016.

Who do you think would make the best new Xena? Are there any characters you would like to see come back for the "Xena" reboot? Let us know in the comments below.
