Blizzard Entertainment's games are some of the most popular PC games of all time. From StarCraft to Warcraft to Diablo, there probably isn't a single PC gamer that hasn't taken one of these franchises out for at least a test drive. Console gamers might finally get a taste of some PC gaming's finest, as it looks like Blizzard has been experimenting with bringing Diablo 3 to consoles.

In an interview with Polygon, Blizzard chief creative officer Rob Pardo revealed that Blizzard already has Diablo 3 builds running on consoles in the office.

"We're still kind of exploring it," said Pardo told Polygon. "We've got builds up and running on it. We're hoping to get it far enough along where we can make it an official project, but we're not quite ready to release stuff about it, but it's looking pretty cool."

It seems that Blizzard will be keeping tight-lipped about a console port of Diablo 3, but 2013 may give console gamers some good news.

Diablo 3's lead designer Jay Wilson said that Blizzard is still "exploring console options."

"The whole team is essentially working on the next big Diablo thing. A lot of that stuff will show up next year at some point," Wilson continued to Polygon in an interview.

There was no mention of which consoles Blizzard is interested in bringing the Diablo franchise to.

Back in November, Blizzard CEO Mike Morhaime confirmed that Blizzard was already working on an expansion for Diablo 3, although he refused to give specific details.

"I don't have any timeline to talk about," Morhaime said. "I think that the most important thing for us always comes down to the quality of the expansion and gameplay, and so that will be a big factor in terms of driving our schedule."

The way things are looking, if all goes well, then Blizzard fans could be seeing a Diablo 3 console port announcement and expansion details in 2013.
