There are rumors that the Samsung Galaxy Note 6 will be a laptop hybrid model. The company already owns patents for a dual-OS notebook, which features a phablet dock so the technology might be incorporated in the next device.

ValueWalk reported that if Samsung uses the technology in the Galaxy Note 6, customers can use the model as a smartphone and laptop at the same time. When the product is docked in the laptop, the phone will work as a touchpad, as well as the laptop’s processor and memory. High-end smartphones already have their own powerful chipset, memory and RAM, so it would be highly possible to use these as a laptop too.

The laptop will function as a shell while the smartphone will serve as the core and brain of the laptop. The device will also run on both Windows and Android. The Galaxy Note 6 may operate on Android in its basic form and can switch to Windows when docked. To include the dual OS feature, the next-generation phablet needs to have powerful specifications.

Tech Times revealed that the Galaxy Note 6 will feature a 16-core chipset and 8GB of RAM. The device may also have a 4K screen, 30-megapixel main shooter and a 16-megapixel front camera. It may have a 4,200mAh battery with fast-charging technology, allowing the device to charge 40% of its battery life in a mere four minutes. The smartphone will further feature a biometric scanner for Samsung Pay. The device may launch in the second half of 2016.

Forbes stated that the Note 6 will most likely have the same design approach as the Samsung Galaxy S6, which will use glass around the handset. The surrounding glass design may take away the presence of a replaceable battery and microSD. Samsung also recently applied for a patent for foldable and bendable screens. The innovative design will make it more conducive to create a smartphone-laptop hybrid.

In the meantime, users are looking for high-end devices but are not staying with Android. The problem may be solved by providing a device that offers both Android and Windows. The requirements of a dual OS feature can adequately be provided by a powerful Samsung Note 6, complete with all the components that can power a laptop.

Samsung has yet to make an official announcement regarding the Samsung Galaxy Note 6 and its release date. More updates and details are expected in the coming weeks.
