While the game “Kingdom Hearts III is still in development under Square Enix, there are rumors that there might also be an animated TV series in the works. There are talks that an animated TV adaptation of “Kingdom Hearts 3” will be released soon.
IGN wrote that Square Enix and Disney previously had plans to create a TV adaptation of “Kingdom Hearts,” due to the success of the first game, which launched on PlayStation 2 in 2002. However, Did You Know Gaming noted that Disney’s television animation division story story board artist Seth Kearsley was slated to write and direct a pilot for the planned series, but thee project was ultimately cancelled.
Gamers and Disney fans were excited about the potential project, but Square Enix and Disney still decided to stop development, due to significantly conflicting views on the original game’s plot. The two companies had plans to create more “Kingdom Hearts” games, which might later on cause conflicts between the TV series if it launched.
The game, “Kingdom Hearts 3,” will be playable on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. The launch schedule is already known within the company, but Square Enix yet not yet shared details regarding the release to the public. This means that fans will have to set their sights on the upcoming game, instead of hoping for it to appear on TV.
Player are already speculating on the features, characters and worlds that will be included in “Kingdom Hearts III.” The Gamers Joint predicted that Daybreak Town will be part of the new game. It is a hub for the player, similar to Traverse Town and Radiant Garden. The town was previously in “Kingdom Hearts X.” Vine Report added that there might be Star Wars and Marvel characters in the new game. Sora may use a lightsaber and Captain America’s shield at one point. Game director Tetsuya Nomura stated that although they are interested in expanding the game, there are franchise restrictions to consider under the agreement with Disney.
An Amazon listing previously hinted that “Kingdom Hearts III” may be launched earlier than expected. The game is currently available for preorders at $59.99. The listing stated that the item will become available on Dec. 30, 2016. Amazon provided an update, stating that the title will release on Jan. 2, 2017, and that there is no actual release date confirmed by the game developers at the moment.
