Rumors continue to float with regards to the 2016 MacBook Air and MacBook Pro and the latest round has something to do with the processor tasked to provide the power behind Apple’s famed laptop roster.
The word around right now from Patently Apple is that the next MacBook Air and MacBook Pro could be running on the company’s homegrown A10X processor and not the much speculated Skylake chipset.
If so, the move is seen as Apple’s push to be as independent as possible from its partners though such could somehow backfire if the company does not properly evaluate the move to such.
One is the fact that Intel has been known to provide efficient chipsets for PCs and laptops so abandoning and opting to go ‘solo’ could raise a lot of questions particularly in the area of performance.
The rumors of shunning Intel’s Skylake processor could be tied up with the success of the iPad Pro. The tablet runs on an A9X processor which has proven to be pretty reliable so far.
Considering that the chip was pegged to for workstation and laptop use, it seems to hint that Apple may opt to use their A10x processor instead of Intel’s famed chips which has been widely renowned and used by Apple’s rival companies.
Could it turn off the interest of folks looking forward to getting Apple’s next batch of MacBooks?
To date, such is too early to tell though there could be the advanced and technical ones who could eventually single that out before they considering getting an Apple MacBook or MacBook Air just in case it does come out.
The decision to go solo may however be not much of an issue, especially if folks end up opting to see first what the next MacBook variants have to offer.

On the part of the MacBook Air 2016, it is believed that such will come in 13-inch and 15-inch screen display variants, running on OS X El Capitan, have a USB Type-C support while also come with a vastly improved battery.
The MacBook Air 2016 will likely have Force Touch technology in tow and is believed to be something that will be thinner than its predecessor.
The MacBook Pro 2016 is expected to offer pretty much the same specs though with more RAM and like a better battery instead.
It remains to be seen if the rumors tied up with the processor would be affirmed by Apple, same with the more important issue on when Apple would actually release the next generation laptops.
