For several weeks, fans have been speculating that there will be a crossover episode that will feature both the Flash and Supergirl. Producer Greg Berlanti is the head of DC’s shared TV universe, which includes “The Flash,” “Legends of Tomorrow” and “Arrow.” When it was announced that he will also be producing “Supergirl,” rumors circulated that two or more characters will most likely meet soon.

Bleeding Cool revealed that “The Flash” and “Supergirl” may crossover before May sweeps week in 2016. However, the possibility will greatly rely on CBS ordering more “Supergirl” episodes. The series is currently signed to air 13 episodes, with CBS reserving the option to add up to 22 episodes. If the network uses their option, the Flash and his team might cross paths with Supergirl in National City.

Bleeding Cool also noted that “Supergirl” can improve its TV ratings with a crossover episode, in the same fashion that “The Flash” and “Arrow” benefited from a previous meetup. CBS might consider bringing ratings back up after the recent dips since the pilot episode of “Supergirl.”

Screenrant wrote that Flash is the perfect hero to crossover with the Kryptonian heroine. The two TV shows actually have a light-hearted take, compared to the grittier “Arrow.” Berlanti and the show creators will have to discuss the plot thoroughly to weave the two worlds together. There is actually an advantage with Flash meddling with alternate timelines in recent episodes.

In the meantime, there are plans to bring in Supergirl’s famous cousin, Superman. In the past, the show has been very quiet about the superhero, but it seems that his presence will finally be felt in 2016, TVLine stated. The show is reportedly casting for a 13-year-old actor who has the face of a future leading man. This means that Superman will be featured in his much younger self in future episodes. If CBS is concerned about ratings, the presence of Kal-El will certainly help give the show a big boost.

It might also be interesting to imagine Supergirl, Superman and the Flash working together on the same mission. No details have been revealed on the storyline and the potential villains that the collaborating superheroes will face. With the young Clark Kent on board, the show might introduce a developing supervillain as well.

“Supergirl” is set to air next on Monday, Nov. 30, 2015 at 8 PM on CBS. More updates and details are expected soon.
