Aside from the Nexus, the HTC One A9 is the latest Android device to receive the new Android 6.0 Marshmallow update. When the company launched the HTC One A9, HTC announced that the smartphone will also get an OS update within 15 days after the Nexus range.

Android Pit stated that the Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P were the first products to debut the OS update. Science Times reported that with the new Android Marshmallow OS update, the A9 will also have improvements on its camera, upgrades on its security and fixes on a number of bugs that were existing in the last OS.

NDTV reported that the A9 is the first Marshmallow-based handset by HTC.

GSM Arena reported that the HTC One A9 features a 5-inch AMOLED screen with a pixel density of 441ppi, covered with Corning Gorilla Glass 4. The device is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 617 and an Adreno 405 GPU. The handset comes in two variants – a 16GB with 2GB of RAM version and a 32GB with 3GB of RAM model, both expandable up to 200GB of memory. The A9 also has a 13-megapixel with dual LED tone rear camera and a 4-megapixel front camera that can record 1080p videos. The device includes a fingerprint sensor and a 2150mAh battery.

The company later stated that it will feature the same design approach used on the A9 to future handsets in its Desire and One M line of products.

Jason Mckenzie, HTC president in the U.S., said that only HTC One A9 unlocked phones in the United States will acquire the fast updates, Tech Times wrote. Models purchased abroad may have to wait longer to receive the updates. Mckenzie assured users that the products will get more of the security phone updates and bug fixes in the future. In November 2015, HTC stated that monthly security updates will become available for unlocked U.S devices. The initial update started to roll out on Nov. 20, 2015.

HTC One A9 users should expect the updates to arrive in the following days. These should be available via over-the-air (OTA), so they can check their notifications every now and then. The update is expected to enhance overall user interface and experience. There will also be more security measures and bug fixes to guarantee smooth operation. More updates and details on Android 6.0 Marshmallow rolling out on the HTC One A9 are expected soon.
