A handful of Sony devices could be getting that Android 6.0 Marshmallow bump soon with reports that the tech giant has lined up various phone models to receive the update by the end of 2015.

And when we say handful, the list of devices scheduled to get the Android bump is quite a lot. Among the phones in mention include the following:

• Sony Xperia C4 Ultra
• Sony Xperia C4
• Sony Xperia M4 Aqua
• Sony Xperia M5
• Sony Xperia Z2 Tablet
• Sony Xperia Z2
• Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact
• Sony Xperia Z3 Compact
• Sony Xperia Z3
• Sony Xperia Z3+
• Sony Xperia Z4 Tablet
• Sony Xperia Z5 Premium
• Sony Xperia Z5 Compact
• Sony Xperia Z5

The Android 6.0 M rollout is expected to before 2015 comes to a close with the newer models set to get the Android bump first.

So with that said, owners of the Sony Xperia Z5 series are expected to be the first ones to be notified of the availability of Android 6.0 M with the rest following and so on. If rumors hold true, the Xperia Z5 should start getting the OTA update as early as this month.

With that said, the release may also depend on the mobile carriers for the concerned devices. This means that AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile and Verizon will be the ones to make the official announcement on when the Android 6.0 M is available for download.

Outside the Xperia Z series, other Sony devices expected to get the Android 6.0 bump include Xperia M5, M4 Aqua, C4 C5 Ultra and the Z2 tablet. Could there be more ahead?

It remains to be seen what other devices under Sony’s wing will also be getting the Android update seeing that there are of course limitations on the actual phone models under their umbrella.

As everyone knows, there is a cut-off on phones which are eligible to receive the latest Android OS, some pertaining to possible hardware shortcomings as mobile phones continue to spike and carry better specs.

In all, Google is bent on achieving some milestones when it comes to the Android 6.0 Marshmallow coverage.

A report from the Tampa Bay Review says that Google has already hit the 50% mark as far as rolling out the latest Android OS but the real goal in mind is reaching the 75% mark before the year comes to a close.

This should further serve good news for Android phone owners who are aching to see what Android 6.0 M can bring to their handsets as soon as they are available for application.
