Luis Miguel, known for his sweeping love ballads is said to be going deaf. The loss in hearing could result in a change in his performance schedule across the globe.

The "Tres Palabras" singer is currently touring Latin America and plans to head to the United States in December. As Latin Times recalls, the singer was recently sued for breaching his contract. The news outlet refers to El Tiempo who attributed the legal battle to his health problems. Miguel is reportedly suffering from Tinnitus, which is the hearing of sound (ringing, clicking, hissing, or roaring), which can range from a low roar to a high squeal, when there actually is not any external sound present. Some people can even hear voices which can cause depression, anxiety, and affects concentration.

Miguel was being sued for $2 million. However, according to Latin Times, Miguel's lawyers are fighting the claim by "showing documents that prove the singer suffers from Tinnitus and therefore, he's been canceling presentations." Which could be terrible news for those waiting for him to perform in the United States.

Tinnitus actually affects 1 in 5 people, so Miguel is not alone. Mayo Clinic outlines that Tinnitus is not actually a condition, but a "symptom of an underlying condition, such as age-related hearing loss, ear injury or a circulatory system disorder."

Tinnitus usually isn't a sign of something serious, cites Mayo Clinic, so hopefully the state of the 45-year old's hearing will not worsen. But, it can worsen with age as well as continued exposure to loud noises. Sounds like blaring horns and concert venues are included? "However, for many people, tinnitus can improve with treatment. Treating an identified underlying cause sometimes helps. Other treatments reduce or mask the noise, making tinnitus less noticeable," cites Mayo Clinic.

Other causes included, earwax blockage, which can cause irritation or hearing loss to the eardrum. Ear bone changes, like abnormal bone growth, can cause tinnitus.

The condition can be treated by earmax removal, hearing aids, and white noise treatment.

For Luis Miguel's fans' sake, hopefully his health can be balanced carefully with his touring schedule, which includes major venues like Madison Square Garden in New York City.
