‘Constantine' Fans Petitioning For Show to Return on Air

Fans of the recently cancelled show "Constantine" are once again petitioning for the show to get picked up by another network.

Comic Book Resources reports that the petition is nearing its 5,000 signature goal, and it is eyeing several networks to pick up the show. The networks that could potentially pick up the show include El Rey Network, The CW, Netflix, Yahoo Screen and the USA Network.

Interest in the show has flared up once again after Matt Ryan, who played John Constantine on the show, guest starred as the master of the supernatural arts in a recent episode of "Arrow." Comic Book reports that the episode entitled "Haunted" sparked an 11% jump in ratings for "Arrow."

In the episode of "Arrow," Oliver calls in a favor to his good friend John Constantine after Sara Lance was resurrected from the Lazarus pit soulless. With Constantine's "help", team Arrow was able to bring Sara's soul back into her body, ultimately resurrecting her.

While it is not uncommon for a show to be picked up by another network after it is cancelled, at the moment, things are looking bleak for "Constantine." The show started strongly during its 13th episode run on NBC, premiering to over 4.28 million viewers. However, the show was put on the infamous Friday night "death slot" and wasn't really able to find an audience. The season ender did show strong numbers as it premiered to 3.13 million viewers.

The shrinking numbers for "Constantine" caused NBC to exclude the show in its early renewals until it was ultimately cancelled. A petition that garnered over 30,000 signatures was raised for the show to be picked up by NBC's sister network Syfy, but the deal never went through.

The question now is if the original 30,000 signatures were not enough to save "Constantine" before, will the new petition of 5,000 be able to get the show back on air? Fortunately, if it is, Matt Ryan says that he would be able to jump into his fabled trench coat, ready for action. The actor has stated that the role of Constantine has been one of the most enjoyable roles he has had to date.

Hopefully, this isn't the end for "Constantine" as the show really didn't have enough time to get off the ground.
