The Moto G 2015 is a budget-friendly device that came out a couple of months ago something that one can get for about $179. The device is a third generation device that was seen as a good mid-range device to consider, packed with good enough features headlined by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 SoC.

For the ones who were awed by the reasonable price and sane specs, Motorola now offers a variant from that line with the announcement of the Moto G Turbo Edition.

The Moto G Turbo Edition does somehow carry over some of the initial features that the Moto G 2015 carried.

That includes a 5-inch display the same HD resolution (1280 x 720 pixels) though with a more powerful Snapdragon 615 processor. It was initially reported that the Turbo edition toted a 1920x1080 pixel resolution but Motorola Mexico apparently clears that the resolution is indeed similar to the original piece.

The Moto G Turbo Edition also comes with 2 GB of RAM, an Adreno 405 GPU, 16 GB of built-in storage (expandable through microSD), a 13 MP main camera and a front-facing 5 MP front-facing snapper.

As far as storage is concerned, it seems that the Moto G Turbo will only be available in the 16 GB option so the possible recourse is to use that expandable memory feature instead.

It supports the usual 4G LTE connectivity, is dual SIM capable and comes with a 2470 mAh battery that should be good for at least one full day of use.

With regards to power concerns, the device does come with the Motorola’s vaunted Quick Charge 2/ Turbo Power technology that accounts for faster charging when the need to juice it up comes. The quick-charging technology should come in handy for eventual users, particularly the ones who are always on the go.

Like the original Moto G 2015, the device is water-resistant (IP67). It comes with a stock Android 5.1.1 Lollipop out of the box.

While the improved specifications do look a bit impressive, the snag is that the new variant of the Moto G 2015 is only available in the Mexican market and retails for about $283, $35 more than what the original Moto G Turbo had been initially offered when it came out in the market.

Right now there is no word on whether Motorola plans to offer the Moto G Turbo in other markets so for people who may be interested in getting the special edition, importing one from there could be the only option at least for now.
