Owners of a Samsung Note 4 who are eager to update to the latest Android 5.1.1 Lollipop need not wait for long to do so with a new firmware SimplRom now made available.

The ROM seems to be safe to use, seeing that it was confirmed by Team Android as something that was based on Samsung’s official firmware.

This means that folks who are eager to see what Android 5.1.1 brings to their device will not have to worry about excessive bloatware - which in all could render RAM and storage problems in the process.

Before proceeding, Samsung Galaxy Note 4 owners will have to see if the pre-requisites are satisfied before installing the said ROM:

1. The SimplROm Android 5.1.1 Lollipop firmware will only work on Samsung Galaxy Note 4 international LTE models (SM-N910F). An attempt to apply the said firmware could leave your device bricked so make sure first. To do that, simply head on to the settings – about phone of your phone and check out the model of your device.

2. Make sure your device is rooted

3. Back up your data and install Clockwork Mod (CWM) Recovery/ TWRP on your device.

4. Ensure that the USB driver is installed on your PC to make sure that your device is recognizable when connected.

5. Battery should be at least 80% to ensure a smooth installation process.

6. Since you are applying a custom ROM, be reminded that the warranty of your device will be voided. It may also hinder you from getting future Android updates as well (unless you end up resorting to a factory reset).

After going through all of those and deciding to push through with the custom ROM update, here are the steps to take.

1. Download the SimplRom Android 5.1.1 Lollipop firmware and Google Apps to your PC.

2. Connect your device to the PC via the usual USB interface.

3. Place the downloaded ROM and Google Apps zip on the SD card root. Make sure your device is rooted before proceeding with the installation.

4. Turn off your device and disconnect it from your PC.

5. Perform Recovery Mode, clear the phone memory and choose wipe data/factory reset option. (Again make sure you have backed up your data as a precaution and in case something goes wrong).

6. Go to ClockworkMod recovery and select 'advanced' and tap 'wipe dalvik cache'.

7. On the main recovery screen, tap on install zip from SD card.

8. Choose the zip file and look for the Android 5.1.1 ROM .zip file in SD card. Do the same for the Google Apps.zip.

9. Once the installation process is done, go to '+++++Go Back+++++' and re-start the device by selecting 'reboot system now' on the recovery menu.

You will need to wait a couple of minutes to allow the device to boot. Once done, head on over again to the Settings>About Phone and see if your installation was successful.
