As official details about the movie have remained scarce especially on its plot, the rumors which have been popping out are just conflicting.

Nonetheless, Lionsgate and Saban might have just provided fans with the biggest clue and update that may answer the direction which the upcoming movie will take.

In the official "Power Rangers" Twitter account, the entertainment companies have revealed that the character names of the upcoming "Rangers" film will follow the original Mighty Morphin characters. Thus, confirming the initial report about the "Power Rangers" movie.

In this new development, Dacre Montgomery will play as Jason/Red Ranger, Naomi Scott as Kimberly/Pink Ranger, R.J Cycler as Billy/Blue Ranger, Ludi Lin as Zack/Black Ranger and Becky Gomez as Trini/Yellow Ranger.

It has been previously mentioned that the upcoming movie will not be a reboot of the original "Mighty Morphin Power Rangers" but instead, will continue on the established events of the "Power Rangers Dino Charge" TV series.

As it turns out, the revealed names of the cast means that the producers of the film will indeed push on the original "Power Rangers."

As mentioned in the report by Screen Rant, this revelation has also given doubts to previous rumors about the upcoming film such as a report claiming that it will feature a new version of characters like Zordon and Rita Repulsa.

Moreover, the entertainment news outlet highlighted that the rumors about the film being low-budget might not be true, suggesting that a highly-budgeted "Power Rangers Mighty Morphin" movie might just happen as what fans have been clamoring for a long time now.

The full roster of the new "Power Rangers" has been already announced in the previous week and the possibility of adding a new Power Ranger as what is expected from the "Dino Charge" storyline is less likely now.

Principal photography for the film starts on Jan. 18, 2016 and is expected to run until April of the same year. The setting will be on Vancouver, Canada and Dean Israelite is up to the task of directing the movie.

"X-Men: First Class" writers Ashley Miller and Zack Stentz is up to writing the script of the film while Robert Orci will serve as Executive Producer.

"Power Rangers" is scheduled to be released on Jan. 13, 2017.
