Liam Payne, Sophia Smith Split: Here's Everything We Know So Far

One Direction member Liam Payne allegedly broke up with his long-time girlfriend Sophia Smith after their two-year relationship.

According to Entertainment Online, Liam Payne is back in the market as a single man. The ex-couple began dating in 2013 but met prior when they were still students in Wolverhampton, England. There are no other details about the reason for the split, but the One Direction member may have hinted about the breakup when he sang "Where Do Broken Hearts Go" during their concert in New Castle.

"This next song is a breakup song. A very good one, actually. Let's sing before I get emotional," Liam said.

A source said that Payne is "incredibly sad" about the split and is just keeping himself busy. Although gossips can't be helped, the singer wishes that everybody respect his and Sophia's privacy.

Even though Payne has not made a comment about his new rumoured relationship status yet, the singer did post a message on Twitter that said how he loves that music is always available when you need it.

It wasn't long ago when the couple seemed loved up. In a report by In Touch Weekly, Payne admitted that he and Smith have talked about marriage but also thinks that they are still too young for that kind of commitment.

"We have talked about marriage, but 22 seems a bit young for us. Sophia needs to go off and do what she wants to do. I don't want her to be one of those stay-at-home girlfriends who doesn't really do much," Payne said.

Their relationship seemed like it was destined since they knew each other before when they were younger but the two never dated. Payne revealed that he didn't go out with Smith during their school days because she was "too hot."

Payne said that he used to see Smith in school and asked her sister for her number but he suspected that she wasn't interested and didn't carry on pursuing her.

"She was very shy and didn't give much indication that she liked me, so I just assumed that she wasn't interested, as well as thinking, she was way too hot for me anyway," Payne revealed.

Even though some fans might be sad to find out about the news, there are definitely many girls who are willing to help mend his heartache. Aside from his alleged split from Smith, the band also has to deal with a year off from the business. One Direction announced that they will be taking a year off to take a rest and spend time with loved ones.
