Amazon's Kindle tablets have so far provide the online company some success, with the latest Fire HD series capturing demand.

Just in time for the holiday shopping season, terms will be tossed around when making a purchase of the tablet, so, Latinos Post has helped provide specifications of the Kindle Fire HD as well as definitions to terms that might be misunderstood to the common consumer.

Display: The Kindle Fire HD features a seven-inch screen size with 1,280x800 pixels at 216 pixels per inch (ppi).

Pixel, short for picture element, is a single point in a graphic image. Resolution is the number of pixels displayed on the screen. The ppi is a measurement of how the monitor displays an image, and the number of ppi being displayed determines the resolution.

Internal Storage and Memory: The Kindle Fire HD tablet offers 16GB and 32GB storage models with 1GB of RAM.

A GB is known as a gigabyte, and one-gigabyte holds up to 1,024 megabytes. If it will offer 16GB, then it equals to 16,384 megabytes. The term "byte" is actually an abbreviation for "binary term," and is a unit of storage.

A RAM, short for Random Access Memory, is the most common type of computer memory found in devices.

When it comes to the microSD card slot, the Amazon tablet does not offer it, but in terms of understanding it, a SD Card is short for Secure Digital and works as a flash memory card.

Camera: The Kindle Fire HD offers a front-facing camera of 1.3-megapixels, 1,280x1,024 pixels. The Amazon tablet does not feature a rear-facing camera.

Wireless Connectivity: The Kindle Fire HD offers access to Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth, and USB version 2.0.

Wi-Fi, a Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) technology, utilizes radio waves to provide Internet connection to a device.

Bluetooth is a wireless protocol for exchanging data over short distances from fixed and mobile devices, creating personal area networks.

Operating System: The tablet utilizes the Android operating system. The Ice Cream Sandwich, also known as the Android version 4.0, comes installed in the Kindle Fire HD.

The operating system, or OS, is the software platform that helps other programs within the device run as smoothly as possible.

The Android is part of Google Inc.'s platform of technology. The OS, version known as the Ice Cream Sandwich, launched in October 2011 and follows the Android theme of using dessert names as its OS. Previous Android names include the Cupcake, Éclair, FroYo, Gingerbread, Honeycomb, and most recently the Jelly Bean.

Chipset: The Kindle Fire HD utilizes the TI OMAP 4460 as its chipset.

The chipset is a number of integrated circuits designated to perform several functions and is located on the Motherboard.

The TI OMAP 4460, by Texas Instruments (TI), is short for Open Multimedia Applications Platform and uses the dual-core 1.2 GHz Cortex-A9 CPU. The CPU, short for Central Processing Unit, is considered as the "brains" of the device and most important part of the system where most commands take place.

Prices: The Kindle Fire HD's starting price is $199 for the 16GB unit and $249 for the 32GB.
