There are rumors that “Destiny 2” is already in the works. Game developer Bungie is reportedly working with High Moon Studios to provide the content for the game sequel.

Just a few days after releasing, “Destiny” became the best-selling new IP in gaming history, spurring talks that “Destiny 2” will follow soon. Although speculation regarding a follow-up game started several months before, a new report strongly suggested that it has already been in development for a while, Game Rant wrote.

Kotaku revealed that a “Destiny” expansion, with the codename “Comet,” initially commenced in 2013. Comet was supposed to feature a new planet, called Europa, which is a new public area on Mars, as well as the “European Dead Zone,” which is another location on Earth. “Comet” was supposed to retail at $60, but was retooled in March 2014. The expansion was refined and adjusted and eventually launched with the official name “The Taken King” expansion.

According to Kotaku’s reliable source, the whole area on Mars was forwarded to High Moon Studios for development and to be included in “Destiny 2”, which will allegedly become available in 2016. According to Kotaku, retooling and minimizing the scope of an expansion is not uncommon. Even the first game itself went through various adjustments until the final version was created and released in September 2014.

Game Rant also wrote that High Moon Studios may feature content for the game sequel or another expansion for the first title. Activision previously confirmed that “Destiny 2” was already in development, one month after “Destiny” launched. Some gamers predict that “Destiny 2” may be available in September 2016. Because of how “Destiny” was well-received by players, the sequel is not expected to be completely different. There might be a number of changes such as Raid matchmaking or improvements in the loot system, as requested by gamers.

There is also the possibility of “Destiny 2” becoming available to last-generation consoles, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. “Destiny” and its expansions were playable on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. If the graphics are enhanced, last-generation platforms may be out of the list.

The tech team stated that the company can power various aspects of the game. “Destiny” is among the best-looking video games to date, although its engine is still below average in terms of being a tool-set for designers, according to insiders.

More updates and details on “Destiny” are expected from Activision, Bungie or High Moon Studios soon.
