HTC One A9 Better Than iPhone 6? [Specs, Features, Release Date & Rumors]

Fans are expecting HTC to release the new HTC One A9 model during its upcoming event in New York City on Oct. 20. The new smartphone is reportedly set to compete against the Apple iPhone 6. Here are some details and comparisons between the two.

HTC Chairwoman and CEO Cher Wang addressed the company employees in a letter, stating that the HTC One A9 will be a good alternative to the Apple iPhones. She said that the new handset provides a balance between beauty, performance and simplicity, Focus Taiwan reported. In the same note, Wang encouraged HTC workers to invite friends and customers to view the online launch of the One A9, to promote HTC devices more.

The online press event will showcase the midrange handset known as the One A9, which will have a metal casing and run on the new Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box.

Phone Arena revealed that the HTC One A9 has a 5.0-inch display with a 1080 x 1920 resolution and 441ppi. It has a 13-megapixel rear camera with LED flash, optical image stabilization, autofocus and geo-tagging, and a 4-megapixel front shooter. The device is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 617 chipset and an Adreno 405 GPU. It may have 2GB or 3GB of RAM, 16GB or 32GB of internal storage, expandable via microSD, and a 2150mAh battery. The handset may retail at around $679.

As for the Apple iPhone 6, which released in September 2014, GSM Arena wrote that the device has a smaller 4.7-inch screen with a resolution of 750 x 1334 and 326ppi. The handset runs on the iOS 8, upgradable to iOS 9.0.2. It is powered by the dual-core 1.4 GHz Typhoon A8 chipset, a PowerVR GX6450 GPU and 1GB of RAM. The iPhone 6 has a 16GB, 64GB and 128GB non-expandable storage capacity. It has an 8-megapixel main camera with dual-LED flash and phase detection autofocus. It also has a 1.2-megapixel front camera. The smartphone is powered by a non-removable Li-Po 1810 mAh battery. The Apple iPhone 6’s lowest variant costs around $549.

Based on the specifications and features, the HTC One A9 features a larger screen with better resolution. It also has a faster processor and a bigger RAM and internal memory. The battery is slightly larger on the One A9. The iPhone 6 edges out the HTC One A9 in terms of the operating system and available apps and features.
