In the last couple of days, the price of the platano in Dominican Republic has increased dramatically. Each unit is being sold for around 25 to 30 dominican pesos( around 40 cents).

Dominicana is well known for its platano production and consumption, but after hurricane Erika hit, the country has been having some problems caused by the drought the storm left.

Besides platanos, dominicans are well known for their sense of humor and have created some hilaroius memes to cope with the crisis.

The goverment is trying to control the crisis by allowing the importation of the fruit and other supplies form Centroamérica.
