The massively popular anime and manga series "Attack on Titan" will be receiving a brand-new anthology series next year featuring American-style artwork and story design.

According to Hollywood Reporter, the announcement was made at the recently concluded New York City Comic Con. The anthology has been confirmed to be 250 pages in length and will be published by Kodansha Comics.

The stories that are featured in the "Attack on Titan" anthology will average anywhere from 5 to 25 pages in length each, and will feature the talents of creators such as "Batman" writer Scott Snyder and "Powers" co-creator Michael Avon Oeming, reports Comic Book Resources.

Kodansha has already made several other spinoff books to "Attack on Titan" in Japan, and each of them have been quite successful. These spinoff books have covered everything from a character guide to "Attack on Titan" to the science behind the entire series.

The anthology will not be the first time that American creators have touched the "Attack on Titan" characters. Earlier this year, Marvel and Kodansha teamed up to do an Avengers/Attack on the Titan crossover title, which was popular enough to reach American shores. The crossover was given out as a promotional book during last year's free comic book day and featured several members of the Avengers, including the Incredible Hulk, fighting titans in an attempt to save humanity.

The idea for a new anthology came from Ben Applegate, who is the associate director of publishing services at Random House Publishers Service, the company that oversees the editorial team at Kodansha Comics. Applegate states that he got the idea for an anthology after watching the "Animatrix", which was itself an anthology of stories about the Matrix universe.

With regards to the stories that will be featured in the book, Applegate states that so far, what has been submitted to his office is fantastic. Applegate continues by saying that the stories range from tales that strictly follow the anime / manga to those that are comedic in nature, and those who are so off the wall that they just might work.

The projected publishing date for the "Attack on Titan" anthology book is scheduled for fall of 2016 release. There is no word yet if there will be separate American and Japanese translations.
