Another work of George R.R. Martin is about to hit TV production soon. Titled, "Skin Trade," the novella by the "Game of Thrones" author will be adapted into a TV series by Cinemax.

Vanity Fair revealed that "Skin Trade" was written by Martin earlier than "Game of Thrones". The 1989 novella was originally part of an anthology that featured stories from other horror authors like Stephen King and Dan Simmons, called "Dark Vision 5". "Skin Trade" won the World Fantasy Award and was reprinted several times after.

Deadline wrote that the plot revolves around Randi Wade, a female private investigator and her friend, collections agent Willie Flambeaux, who is actually a werewolf. Wade was tasked to investigate the murders of mysteriously skinned victims.

Martin announced the recent deal with Cinemax on his blog. He stated that he was very excited that Cinemax, the sister company of HBO, recently optioned the television rights to his "The Skin Trade". He added that the deal is already done with Cinemax ordering the pilot script. He said that there will be surprises. If Cinemax will like the script, they will start shooting a pilot. If everything turns out well, they might proceed to doing a series on the air.

"I have always thought there was a TV series (or maybe a feature film) in Willie Flambeaux and Randi Wade. Those of you who know the story ofDoorways, my ill-fated ABC pilot from the early 90s, may even recall that it was Skin Trade that I was actually trying to sell back in 1991, when I flew out to LA for a round of pitch meetings. So we're a few decades late..." Martin wrote on his blog.

However, Martin will not serve as showrunner. He said that he would have loved to work on the pilot and become showrunner but he had to finish a book, which several "Game of Thrones" fans speculated was "A Song of Ice and Fire", or the sixth book in the HBO-adapted series. Martin and Cinemax hired Kalinda Vasquez (Prison Break), who was described by Martin to have the most polished and professional pitch to Cinemax. Vasquez seemed to understand the two main characters very well.

In the meantime, "Game of Thrones" is currently shooting for Season 6. The show recently nabbed 12 awards at the Emmys.

There is still no news on the potential cast and release date. More updates and details on "Skin Trade" are expected soon.
