Is Ronda Rousey the Female Version of the Rock?

Ronda Rousey has undoubtedly reached new heights and stands among the hot names in the UFC world as well as Hollywood. So is it safe to say that the UFC Women’s Bantamweight champion is he female version of WWE star and actor Dwayne ‘Rock’ Johnson?

Judging by where Rousey is right now, it surely seems that way. She has run roughshod over opponents thrown at her in the Octagon, undefeated thus far.

Aside from her UFC exposure, her appearance in Hollywood has equally drawn praise. Rouse has already starred in Hollywood flicks such as The Expendables 3, Furious 7 and Entourage. She has left a lasting impression for her roles and it seems that she will continue to do so with starring roles in upcoming films.

That list includes starring in the movie remake Road House which originally had the late Patrick Swayze in the lead role. Then there is also Mile 22 and even her own autobiography (My Fight/ Your Fight) which will reportedly be turned into a movie.

Lest we forget that Rousey seems to be getting headway as far as possibly landing the role of Captain Marvel if Kevin Feige does hold true to his word of considering the UFC Women’s champion.

With that list alone, Rousey seems to have done a lot already despite being only 28 and the blessings and opportunities continue to come in. So is she indeed the female version of the Rock, the most electrifying star in the WWE?

Bonnie Fuller of Hollywoodlife.com seems to think so.

"Ronda is becoming the female version of The Rock,” she said. “She's just like The Rock -- she's smart, funny, a great role model aside from being so athletically accomplished. What's also so admirable is that despite her success, she remains humble and self-effacing, which is additionally impressive. It's great that we finally have a female Rock.”

However, there is the matter of managing time. While Rousey did say that she could consider retirement by the time she reaches the age of 30, the fact remains that until that she may reach a point of spending too much time on one niche (acting or competing).

To date, she has marvellously juggled her time on both. But as she continues her climb to the top, she is bound to encounter some problems as far as attending to both Hollywood and the UFC.

At some point, Rousey could follow the Rock’s lead and focus more on the acting scene. Unfortunately the difference is in the UFC. Unlike in the WWE, the Rock has the luxury of choosing where he appears. In the UFC which is of course known more as a competitive circle, such is not the case.

Until that point comes however, many see her doing just fine. She has done a masterful job handling her time and marketing herself so whatever happens going forward should work to her benefit.

Rousey is set to face Holly Holm this coming November 14 at the Etihad Stadium in Melbourne, Australia as the co-Main event for UFC 193. She weighs in on Holly Holm in the video below.
