There are plans to launch “Pacific Rim 2,” the sequel to the 2013 action movie and there are rumors that “Game of Thrones” star Maisie Williams might be one of the Jaeger pilots.

Director Guillermo del Toro stated on Twitter that he had lunch with Maisie Williams and was so impressed with the actress that if a second movie happens, she will become a Jaeger pilot.

“Had lunch with Maisie Williams yesterday. Remarkable. Dammit- if PR2 happens, that girl is getting a Jaeger,” tweeted the director.

A Jaeger in “Pacific Rim” is a giant mech or robot created to fight aliens and monsters from other dimensions. Each Jaeger is operated by two pilots. The operators have to work together perfectly using a mind-combination approach known as “Drifting”.

Screen Rant wrote that originally, “Pacific Rim 2” was supposed to launch in 2017. However, recent news from Universal and Legendary revealed that the movie will be pushed back indefinitely, to guarantee that it will provide the vanguard and fully-immersive experience that the franchise deserves.

The sequel was first announced to release on April 7, 2017. It was postponed to August 4, 2017 before being taken off the calendar completely.

Williams has gained worldwide fame because of her role as Arya Stark in the HBO hit series “Game of Thrones”. The actress is set to appear in future episodes of “Doctor Who”. She is also the top pick to take on the role of the main female protagonist in the video game “The Last of Us”, Screen Rant revealed. Her presence in a second “Pacific Rim” movie could help spark interest and improve worldwide box office earnings. Fans will also see more of her in the sixth season of “Game of Thrones”.

Del Toro said that all of the surviving characters from the first movie will still be in the sequel. This means that Charlie Hunnam and Rinko Kikuchi will be returning. Several Jaegers and pilots were lost in “Pacific Rim”, so there will most likely be new faces in the future recruitment process. More powerful monsters are also expected to battle upgraded mechs in the sequel.

Coming Soon reported that “Pacific Rim” grossed $400 million worldwide. Other cast members in the first film are Idris Elba, Charlie Day, Max Martini, Robert Kazinsky and Ron Perlman.

Williams’ possible involvement in “Pacific Rim 2” is still uncertain so fans should wait for further announcements. More details and updates are expected soon.
