It's hard to argue with the fact that "Star Wars Episode 7: The Force Awakens" is not the number one most anticipated movie for 2015. While the movie is only a few months away from premiering, a recent survey states that fans are hoping for the best.

In a survey done by Variety, over 60 percent of fans believe that the upcoming movie will be the best in the "Star Wars" franchise, with less than 40 percent stating that other films in the franchise are better. While these numbers are encouraging, some of the other numbers in the survey might be a bit disturbing.

Gamespot reports that only about 15 percent of fans believe that J.J. Abrams is the driving force behind the new installment, while only 14 percent believe the new cast members will be better.

Though the fanfare might not be focused on Abrams and the new cast members, people are very interested in the story and the effects of the new movie. About 25 percent of those surveyed believe that the new story will come back to the roots of the "Star Wars" franchise, while about 24 percent believe that the special effects and outer space scenes will be more intense.

However, believe it or not, the most disturbing number is that a whopping 69 percent of fans believe that any or all "Star Wars Episode 7: The Force Awakens" toys will be sold out by the time Christmas comes around. If this is any indication of projected toy sales, "Star Wars" fans better get those lightsabers right now since about seven percent of those polled said they would trip an elder person and fight a child for rare "Star Wars" merchandise. Another five percent said that they would fake a heart attack or illness. How that would help them get the rare toys for this season is unknown.

The survey was done online and was conducted from Sept. 14 -16, 2015 by Harris Interactive and was commissioned by FusionOps. For the survey, Harris Interactive polled 2,031 adults in the U.S. aged 18 and up. About 801 of these adults claimed they were die-hard "Star Wars" fans.

These numbers mainly confirm what everyone already knows, namely, "Star Wars Episode 7: The Force Awakens" is under a lot of pressure to perform as fans of the franchise were not satisfied by the last few installments of "Star Wars." Fans can only hope that the new movie will bring back the magic from the original trilogy.
