LG Electronics is preparing to launch the new LG G5. There are rumors that the flagship smartphone will release in the fourth quarter of 2015.

The LG G4 was introduced in April 2015. There are now rumors that its successor will launch in November or December 2015.

Yibada revealed that the LG G5 is said to feature a 5.6-inch screen with a pixel resolution of 3840 x 2160 (4K) with True HD IPS and protected by Corning Gorilla Glass. The handset will reportedly be powered by the upcoming 1.8GHz hexa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor, 3GB of RAM and the new Windows 10 OS. It may also come in three variants – a 32GB model, a 64GB model and a 128GB version. The device may have a 20-megapixel rear camera and a 10-megapixel front shooter with iris scanning technology for enhanced security. It may also have a huge 4000mAh battery, an improved Touch ID technology, several gesture detection capabilities and a sleek design. The body is said to be all-metal and slim.

Christian Post wrote that the LG G5 is rumored to have a slim and flexible design, with a curved surface. The HD display will present high quality images. The handset can also capture 4K videos and run games with high system requirements. There will be multiple sensors for pro-light, gravity, proximity and the cameras will have face detection, optical image stabilization, laser autofocus and other features. Some claim that the LG G5 will be introduced anytime between the last week of November and the first week of December and officially release on Dec. 15 just in time for the holidays.

International Business Times wrote that due to overheating concerns about the Snapdragon 810 chip, LG opted to use the Snapdragon 808 on the LG G4. The upcoming Snapdragon 820 is said to have successful results in testing so far, so it is very likely that the LG G5 will use it as soon as it becomes available. Phone Arena cited that the LG G5 will feature an improved camera with a customized Sony sensor with a width of 1/2 inch. Sony will provide the camera sensor for LG exclusively. The upgrade allows the device to shoot photos with great color and in low lighting conditions. There are talks that the iris scanner will replace fingerprint scanning.

It is said to weigh a mere 980 grams and is expected to retail at around $899. More news and details about the LG G5 are expected in the coming weeks.
