"Everest" is an upcoming movie depicting the events of an ill-fated 1996 attempt to climb the world's tallest mountain. However, one of the survivors of the climb, Jon Krakauer, does not take kindly to the film and has very bad opinions of it.

In an interview with the Los Angeles Times, Krakauer says that anyone who wants to know the true story of what happened during the expedition should not watch the upcoming movie. The journalist believes that the film will be a lot of Hollywood smoke and mirrors, and that it will be total bull. Krakauer says that if anyone wants the real accounts of the trip, they should read "Into Thin Air."

According to The Guardian, Krakauer will be characterized in the film and will be played by Michael Kelly. Krakauer states that he was not contacted by Kelly in any form for consultation on the events that led to the deaths of several of the expedition's members.

One such scene that Krakauer has a problem with is where one of the expedition's guides, Anatoli Boukreev, played by Ingvar Eggert Sigurososon, goes into his tent and asked that the team ask for help or a rescue attempt. According to Krakauer, the film shows that his character refuses the help and that they should continue on.

Krakauer states he was never asked his opinion on requesting for help. Krakauer confirms that Anatoli did go into several tents but he was never asked for what he thought about the matter.

The journalist does, however, accept one of the films suggestions about the trip, namely, that his presence and potential coverage of the events might have been a factor for the expedition leaders to continue on the climb even though conditions had worsened. Krakauer states that one of the expedition leaders, Rob Hall, was taking more risks than usual and that they were taking chances to get to the summit because he was there.

Krakauer states that the incident had haunted him for years and even had harsh words for the current wave of Everest tourism. The journalist believes that Everest climbing is not real climbing at all, and that in fact, it's a rich man's climb. It's a trophy to put on the wall. Krakuer has gone on record stating that he wishes that he had never gone on the climb in the first place.

"Everest" stars Jake Gyllenhaal and Josh Brolin as Scott Fisher and Beck Weathers, who lead the climb to the summit of Mount Everest, which goes astray. "Everest" is currently showing in theaters worldwide.
