Just five weeks ago, Chelsea was the undisputed best team in the English Premier League. Now the defending UEFA Champions League winners sit in fourth place in the standings.
Worst of all, the team has gone five weeks without a win since losing 3-2 to Manchester United in a highly controversial affair. The team recently lost coach Roberto Di matteo but was unable to perform under Rafael Benitez in the coach's debut against Manchester City. Juan Mata, hailed as the top player in the EPL by ESPNFC.com, has been held scoreless in six straight matches and has no assists in his last three matches. Fernando Torres has been dreadful with just one goal in the last ten matches for Chelsea. He has no assists in that span either. Eden Hazard has faced similar issues as the midfielders has registed just one goal in the last six matches for Chelsea with no assists in that span. Things have been worse for young star Oscar who has just one goal in nine matches for Chelsea. However, he has not scored in his last four for the club.
Fulham currently sits in the middle of the table and have not won in their last five matches either. They lost to Stoke City this past weekend 1-0. Dmitri Barbatov is their top scorer with five on the season and he has scored three times in the last five games for Fulham.
Prediction: Chelsea has looked poor of late, but they need a win in front of their fans badly. They should take a close 2-1 win.
