As fans of the Bourne film franchise all know by now, Matt Damon is reprising his role as Jason Bourne for the upcoming film which still remains untitled as of now. Commonly referred to as "Bourne 5," Damon teased of the plot of the next film in the franchise.

Fans have last seen Damon in 2007's "The Bourne Ultimatum." In the last scene, Nicky, Jason Bourne's contact in Paris, played by Julia Stiles, was watching a broadcast about the exposure of Operation Blackbriar, the arrest of Hirsch and Vosen, a criminal investigation against Kramer and the situation surrounding Jason Bourne. According to the broadcast, Jason Bourne's body has not been found after a three-day search of the river. Upon hearing this, Nicky smiled meaningfully. The scene then cut to the next scene where Jason Bourne is seen swimming away from where he fell.

Speaking with the Daily News, Damon teased that "Bourne 5" will follow Jason Bourne's story as he regain his memory bit by bit. "That doesn't mean he knows everything," Damon told Daily News.

"It's 12 years since Jason Bourne has been on the grid. So we have to answer the questions, Where's he been? What's he doing? What gets him going again? So once we solved all that, then we had a movie," Damon said further.

The actor also revealed that he had left the franchise after "The Bourne Ultimatum," together with director Paul Greengrass, due to a minor conflict with Universal Studios. The latter had wanted to do the fourth installment in haste and Damon and Greengrass were very much against it. The Studios proceeded and substituted Damon with Jeremy Renner for "The Bourne Legacy."

Whatever conflict that Damon and Greengrass had with Universal Studios are all water under the bridge now. "Bourne 5" will hit U.S. theaters on July 29, 2016.

According to a report from the Daily Mail, "Bourne 5" will hit theaters with the title "The Bourne Betrayal." However, this remained as rumor until the official announcement from Universal Studios is made. What can be confirmed as of press time is that the film is being shot in Spain. Daily Mail has obtained photos of Damon riding a police motorbike for a rain-soaked action sequence.

"Bourne 5" has also finished its principal photography on Sept. 8, according to the film's producer, Frank Marshall. In a tweet, Marshall said he is happy to report that "Bourne is back!"

Casts for the fifth installment include Tommy Lee Jones, Alicia Vikander, and Stiles to reprise her role as Nicky. Vincent Cassel has just recently announced to be the villain. According to sources who have spoken with Variety, he will play as an assassin hunting Jason Bourne.
