There are rumors that the Samsung Galaxy S7 may be introduced in January 2016 and become commercially available the following month. There are reports that via the agile development methodology, the next flagship device will be able to launch much earlier than expected.

ET Today, a South Korean media outlet, reported that an SK Securities analyst said that by using the agile development technology, Samsung was able to hasten production by two months, allowing the Galaxy S7 to release early. Phone Arena wrote the SK Securities is under the SK Group, which is the same conglomerate that owns SK Telecom, a major telecom carrier in South Korea. However, it is still uncertain whether the Galaxy S7 will launch early in Samsung’s home market or set to launch in February in other markets too.

The Samsung Galaxy S5 and Galaxy S6 were previously introduced at the Mobile World Congress, which is held between February and April. The handsets became available in April. The Samsung Galaxy Note 5 also launched earlier than before, which might mean that the company is aiming to make changes in its launch patterns. This suggests that people might be able to avail of the Galaxy S7 earlier.

Android Pit reported that the Samsung Galaxy S7 might feature a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 v3.x. which will replace the Exynos 7420 chipset used in the Galaxy S6 models. Benchmark results on Geekbench also suggested that there may be two variants of the S7. One may feature 3GB of RAM, while the second is an LTE model with 4GB of RAM. The two handsets were codenamed “Project Lucky”. Samsung also recently introduced the first DRAM chip that would allow smartphones to have as much as 6GB of RAM. This spurred rumors that the Galaxy S7 would feature the new technology, making it the fastest smartphone in the world. The Galaxy S7 might come with a 4K screen and the new Turtle Glass, which is an alternative to the Corning Gorilla Glass. It may also have a minimum of 64GB of internal memory.

As for the release date, it will possibly be launched at MWC 2016, which happens from February 22 to 25, 2016. It may be available in the market in the last week of March or the first week of April 2016, Android Pit wrote. The device might cost about $650 to $700. If a 4K screen is present, the retail price can go higher.
