After 26 less-than-smooth seasons, Marge and Homer have decided to get legally separated after Marge has finally gotten enough of Homer's diagnosed narcolepsy. Don't fret fans; there hasn't been any word that the two will be getting a divorce.

However, according to Entertainment Weekly, it seems that during their time apart, Homer will be getting a new love interest named Candace. Candace has been confirmed to be voiced by "Girls" creator / star Lena Dunham.

Comic Book Resources reports that Candace is a twenty something pharmacist who falls in love with Homer while she fills his prescription for his previously diagnosed narcolepsy. Apparently, Homer reminds her of a childhood snowman who will never melt.

While this does seem similar to other crises that Marge and Homer have seen and dealt with over the years, "Simpsons' executive producer Al Jean has confirmed that it will be different from what everyone has seen before. Jean says that fans of the show have seen Marge and Homer on the rocks before and that they have always managed to patch things up, but what they have in store for Candace and Homer is a completely different direction.

Candace, however, will not be the only new character showing up on season 27 of the long-running franchise. "Modern Family" star Sofia Vergara has also been confirmed to be debuting as Bart's new teacher Mrs. Berrera. With Mrs. Krabappel being retired after the death of her voice actor Marcia Wallace in 2013, the role of Bart's teacher has yet to be filled.

Jean has stated that Mrs. Berrera has not been cast as a substitute teacher, and that they are testing out how Vergara works for the role. Jean says that Mrs. Berrera pays a lot more attention to Bart and generally cares about his education, which causes Bart to fall in love with his teacher. Bart may have some competition for her affection, however, as it has been heavily hinted that Principal Skinner may also have feelings for the new teacher.

Lisa will also be getting a new friend who will be voiced by Kristen Bell. The yet-to-be-named friend will be a daughter of an internet billionaire who Homer also befriends. However, Lisa will soon become tired of her new friend but Homer will continue to push the two as friends, as he enjoys the perks of having a billionaire friend as well.

It seems that the new season of the "Simpsons" has something new for the beloved family.  Which new edition to the cast are you most excited to see? Let us know in the comments below.
