There are rumors that Apple is already working on the iPhone 7. Although the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus is still set to become available in stores beginning September 25, there are talks that the company has already developing their successor.

Geek reported that Apple has already placed initial orders for A10 chips, which will allegedly be the chipset of the iPhone 7. The company reportedly entered a contract with Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) to serve as their exclusive supplier. Mass production is said to commence in March 2016. The chip is said to be made using 16-nanometer FinFET process technology and supported with the integrated fan-out wafer-level packaging of TMC. At present, the iPhone 6s has an A9 chip, which is expected to improve performance by up to 70 percent and graphics by up to 90 percent. The A10 chip is expected to continue what the A9 has provided and provide new features.

Furthermore, some rumors about the iPhone 7 in development also surfaced after Apple filed for a new patent. Know Your Mobile revealed that the company applied to use new metal oxides that will substitute the plastic antenna bands positioned on the back of iPhone models. The new material is expected to allow radio frequency transmission efficiently, as well as provide the handsets with a cleaner and more premium appearance.

Ming-Chi Kuo, a reliable analyst at KGI Securities provided some of the features and specifications that he expects to appear in the iPhone 7 in 2016. He stated that Force Touch will be one of the main focuses of the next-generation smartphone. There will be more input methods and handwritten signature support. The RAM may improve from 1GB to 2GB. The camera may feature six-element lenses, compared to the 12-megapixel five-element lenses that the iPhone 6s has. In terms of the display, Apple will most likely offer the same two variants – a 4.7-inch and a 5.5-inch version.

Mac Rumors revealed that the iPhone 7 may release in September 2016. Apple might feature glass-on-glass touch panels, which will also allow and edge-to-edge display if they prefer. However, Ming Chi Kuo stated that the company will most likely maintain its in-cell panels. Using in-cell panels will allow the iPhone 7 to be even thinner. It might even be as slim as the iPod touch, measuring only about 6.0 to 6.5mm.

Apple and TSMC have not yet commented on the possible specifications and rumored development of the iPhone 7.
