What's in store for Max Black and Caroline Channing in the fifth season of "2 Broke Girls"?

With the lack of details surrounding the upcoming season, fans have taken to gleaning each and every clue they can to know what to expect from the series when it airs in the next few weeks.

Some fans have suspected that Max, played by Kat Dennings, and Caroline, played by Beth Behrs, may get a taste of "la dolce vita" in season 5, as noted by Yibada.

Dennings had even commented on this angle, saying that it would be interesting to see that happen.

"I think Max would just go insane and buy like 30 cars...and then would have no food, but just like a lot of cars," Dennings said during an appearance on "Late Night With Seth Meyers," Christian Post reported.

"However, the actress acknowledged the fact that it is quite impossible for her character and Caroline to be rich because that is not what the series is about," Yibada offered.

There's also speculation on whether the duo will come out as gay somewhere down the road.

"They're 22 and they have to pay the rent," series creator Michael Patrick King said, as quoted by After Ellen. "They don't have time for sexual fluidity at this point. They have to work!"

The suspicion is not without basis as the girls have been seen in bed together in the past and have made sexual jokes, as well. And then there's this comment from the show's executive consultant, Whitney Cummings.

"We don't discriminate and so I love that there's a sexual thing between them. They're both hot and smart and sexy and we laugh about it a lot that [Max] is kind of a dude and Caroline is such a girlie girl," Cummings explained. "We always envision it as a romantic comedy between two girls; always wrote it like that."

"There's no real male love interest in the show. We had one but we took him off because it was so much less sexy," she continued." "We kind of see Max as the guy - she has a man's name - and [Caroline] as the girl, so we always envision them as sort of in a relationship."

Meanwhile, Behrs disagreed with this by saying that the pair just have a "close friendship."

"I think [Whitney] meant 'relationship' as in the friendship growing. I can assure everyone, we're really close friends and nothing more," she countered.

We'll see what happens when the show returns this fall.
