Tyson Chandler signed with the Phoenix Suns for his obvious NBA experience and technically included in the deal is for Chandler to help and guide the younger players on the Suns’ squad.

Chandler has proven that he is still a force to reckon with on the hardwood but heading into next season, he may be taking on a much bigger role than blocking, rebounding and scoring. That would include reasoning with his teammates which ultimately points to one disgruntled player, Markieff Morris.

Morris has been in the headlines as of late, demanding a trade and making it known that he doesn’t want to play for the Suns.

The apparent reason for such goes back to early this year when the Suns traded his twin brother Marcus Morris to the Detroit Pistons despite the fact that the brothers had talked with Suns management of their preference to play together and agreeing to a pay cut at that.

While the move is something that is not surprising, Keef believes that he and his brother were disrespected by the move. And now he wants out.

Recall that Keef Morris was even meted a fine by the NBA for voicing out his displeasure and rant of being traded. Among the teams he said he would be interested in playing for include that of the Houston Rockets and the Toronto Raptors because he wanted to play alongside James Harden and Kyle Lowry respectively.

Of course, a trade to Detroit could also work though it remains to be seen if Stan Van Gundy would have the assets to give up which will reunite the Morris brothers.

Before all that, however, Chandler could make one last ditch effort to reason with Morris.

The 7-footer has been participating in voluntary workouts with the Suns and is using the chance to bond with his new and younger teammates. Unfortunately that does not include Keef Morris who has, as expected, been holding out.

The Suns are of course hoping that Keef Morris has a change of heart though the chances of that happening don’t seem too bright. Hopefully though, Chandler can help, seeing that he had his share of the same situation when he was with the New Orleans Hornets.

In 2009, Chandler was initially traded to the OKC Thunder but would later on return to the Hornets due to a turf toe issue.

Rather than whimper, Chandler took it all professionally and continued to play for the Hornets stressing that he was playing for himself, his family and his teammates.

That instance is something he hopes to bring up with Morris once he and Keef do get the chance to sit down.
