The Android Lollipop 5.1.1 will finally be rolling out on the Xperia C3 and Samsung Galaxy Note 3. Previously, the OS has been offered to a number of Sony devices over-the-air (OTA).

Xperia Blog reported that the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop with build number 19.4.A.0.182 has been rolled out to the Sony Xperia C3 series. Users of both the single-SIM (D2533) and dual-SIM (D2502) versions from all major regions in the world can expect the OS to become available.

International Business Times wrote that to install Android 5.1.1 Lollipop on Sony Xperia C3 phones via OTA, users will first receive update notifications. Choose “Yes, Download” then wait for it to finish downloading. Next, choose “Install now”. The smartphone will automatically restart and the OS will be updated to the new version. The roll-out process will be done in phases, so it might take a few days before every C3 user gets a notification. Users can also check for the OTA update manually. Go to Settings >About phone > System update > Check Now.

The Android 5.1.1 Lollipop will provide a number of enhancements and features such as a new alert system, silent modes, camera improvements with superior auto-mode focus, Xperia in Business features, enhanced enterprise support and the option to take selfies using SmartWear. There is still no confirmation whether the Stagefright bug fix has been included in the new update.

After the Sony Xperia C3 series, more Sony products are expected to receive the Android Lollipop next, such as the Xperia Z1, Xperia Z1 Compact, Xperia M2, Xperia M2 Aqua and Xperia Z Ultra.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 is also set to receive the Android Lollipop. The update is about 277MB in size and will provide a number of personalization options in the settings and features, which will boost the performance of the product and extend battery life. The new Temasek Android 5.1.1 Lollipop custom ROM firmware can be installed on the Samsung tablet only. If tried on other devices, it might be bricked, based on another International Business Times report.

Team Android revealed that the Temasek Android 5.1.1 Lollipop is smooth and fast, stable, based on CM 12.1 and has the stock Android look and feel. Installing the update should only be done by a person who has sufficient knowledge on rooting Android devices. The device should be rooted before attempting custom ROM installation. Users are advised to have installed USB drivers and more than 80% battery before installation.
