The star power of Ronda Rousey keeps on growing as now, the UFC champion is set to star in the reboot of the Patrick Swayze cult classic "Road House."

Variety reports that film company MGM is currently in talks with screen writers and production is set to start in 2016. Reports also say that Rousey was actually quite thrilled about the movie and starring in it but out of respect, the fighter / actress asked Swayze's widow, Lisa Niemi, if it was okay for her to take the role, which Niemi quickly said yes to.

The original "Road House" was released in 1989, where Swayze's character, John Dalton, was hired as a bouncer and was tasked to clean up one of the loudest, rowdiest bars in all of Missouri---the Double Deuce. While Dalton was able to control the frequent guests of the Double Deuce, the town has been taken over by corrupt businessman Brad Wesley, played by Ben Gazzara. Wesley controls the town, with little or nothing getting done without his approval. Swazye saves the town after several altercations with Wesley.

According to Vanity Fair,  "Road House" is just one of the several movies that will be tailored around Rousey. Rousey will be part of an all female Delta Force team in "The Athena Project". She is also set to star alongside Mark Wahlberg in "Mile 22" and in a biopic based on her bestselling autobiography entitled "My Fight / Your Fight."

The movie might be a difficult one for Rousey to make considering that Swayze's performance in the original was so iconic. However, MGM is confident that the attitude and swagger that Rousey gives off during her interviews and in her roles in "Fast and Furious 7," "Expendables 3" and "Entourage" will come easily for Rousey.

Almost all projects Ronda Rousey is affiliated with are considered gold considering the enormous fan base the MMA fighter has garnered over the years. Many have started to compare  her to Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson in many ways.

While currently there has been no news on who will be directing the film, MGM is tentatively stating that they hope to start production shortly after Rousey's next UFC fight, which will be at UFC 193 against Holly Holm on November 15, 2015. Her next fight may prove difficult as Holm is an undefeated women's boxing champion who experts believe can give Rousey a tough fight. However, as fans have seen in the past, many women have tried to defeat the Rowdy one but none so far has been able to do so.
