It is definitely a little awkward running into an ex after things have gone south. To be honest, most have sacrificed an event or two if it means avoiding a former lover. It appears celebs are no different. Robert Pattinson apparently took that road this weekend to avoid Kristen Stewart.
The famed "Twilight" hunk was supposed to make an appearance to support his latest film "The Childhood of a Leader" at the Venice Film Festival. Kristen was scheduled to appear the same day, Sept. 7 to promote her latest project, "Equals." But lo and behold, Rob did not show up as promised and rumor has it, he was trying to keep his distance from his former on-and-off screen flame, Kristen.
Robert claimed his absence was due in part to a busy schedule. He is currently in Ireland filming Brad Pitt's "Lost City of Z." However, New York Post is quick to point to an alternative alibi. Their source revealed Pattinson was truly avoiding the "Clouds of Sils Maria" actress. "He didn't want the story to be all about how he and Kristen were nearly bumping into each other."
"Venice is very small...and there are only so many parties and hotels," added the insider.
Kristen and Rob split after K-Stew was caught cheating on him with "Snow White and the Huntsman" director, Rupert Sanders.
The pair must still be harboring some bad blood between them, this is not the first time Rob has evaded his Kristen. In an interview with "Elle France" via HollywoodLife.com, the British actor admitted to an interest in filming another "Twilight" movie, but did not answer whether he would do it with Kristen. "Why not?" he said, on the topic of the film, while retorting "I preferred not to broach the subject" on the topic of Kristen.
Robert is currently in a relationship with experimental songstress FKA twigs. The two are engaged and are planning a wedding, although it has been postponed to an unforeseen date. Recent reports, cite the pair have been speaking less due to hectic schedules, but the engagement is still on.
Kristen is currently dating Alicia Cargile, a special effects producer.
