Is Paige VanZant the Next Ronda Rousey?

Ronda Rousey could be nearing the end of her career after saying that she may no longer be active in the UFC at the age of 30, but it seems that UFC fans don't have to fret.

There could be a new and rising star set to take her place, a 21-year-old female fighter named Paige VanZant.

Why VanZant? For starters, she is coming off her third consecutive win at UFC 191 after disposing of Alex Chambers of Australia in the third round. The move? An armbar.

However, that move wasn't the only thing that VanZant has been showing. She is also armed with using her other extremities, such as her devastating knees to the body, to lead a vast array of striking assaults.

Isn't Rousey adding that offensive arsenal as well as of late?

Though she comes into the scene complete with both, the American fighter knows that she has a long way to go before she could even be compared to the reigning UFC Women's Bantamweight champion.

"It's as much a compliment for people to even say that," she said via MMAJunkie.com. "But those are definitely huge shoes to fill and I have a long way before I can make that comparison. But I'm thankful that people see that, and I definitely want to follow in her footsteps."

The proper way to perhaps someday reach the level of where Rousey right now is through continued improvement and work, something that VanZant bared after her triumph over Chambers.

"I'm really happy," said VanZant in her post-fight interview with Daily Mail. "Obviously I worked a lot of technique in the lead up to this fight, but it all went out the window and I just brawled, like I usually do. But, I'm happy, I got a win."

Could she be destined to be the youngest UFC champion ever? While it may be too early to tell, VanZant is pretty much aware of the task at hand. Apparently, that is not her main goal as she simply goes along with the flow and hoping that the opportunity arrives.

VanZant, who currently holds a 6-1 record in the MMA and 3-0 in the UFC, is someone that UFC president Dana White believes could be well on her way to achieving stardom if she successfully manages pitfalls with her rising popularity.

"She has all the attributes of a little rock star," he said. "She's got a great personality, she's absolutely relentless when she fights; she puts (Demetrious) 'Mighty Mouse' (Johnson) type pressure on fighters, and yesterday, she was the most searched fighter on UFC.com. People love her" says White.
