Fans of the "The Walking Dead" series have been coming up with theories about what could potentially happen in the sixth season of the hit zombie-apocalypse franchise. Just recently, a rumored potential love interest for the series' main character, Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln), has popped up.

According to a report by Cinema Blend, Season 6 of the "The Walking Dead" could possibly open up the door for a romance between Rick and Michone (Danai Gurira), dubbed "Richone," mainly due to the facts that the characters are close and both have been alone for a long time.

Rick lost his wife Lori (Sarah Wayne Callies) giving birth to Judith, and he has been a single father since, while Michone was travelling alone before joining Rick and his group.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, "Walking Dead" showrunner Scott Gimple noted that the characters of Rick and Michone have a "very intimate relationship," which shows a "familial" or very deep kind of friendship.

"The fact that they reached that bedroom in Alexandria when they had that conversation where Rick admitted that he had a gun and was going to give it to her. I think they have an incredibly intimate relationship right now. Where that goes, who knows? I think there's something to be said about those two characters' journeys right now," Gimple explained to THR.

Lincoln, on the other hand, told THR that he enjoys the light bond Rick has with Michone, whom he described as a character with a "smart ass" persona and "one of the few people that can take the piss out of Rick."

"There aren't that many people in the apocalypse, but when everybody is dead and it's just me and her left, let's get it on!" Lincoln told THR

Meanwhile, Gurira commented that, although there is some "intimacy" with Rick and Michone, it was caused by the mutual trust and respect the characters have for each other.

"I always say to Gimple that she's the nun and she don't get none! But it's cool, it shows that there's a palpable true friendship there that people can pick up on. But there's a friendship there that I treasure with Michonne's connection with Rick. He's the one who really challenges her to step out of who she was and who she was becoming," Gurira continued.

THR also pointed out that a romance is a logical storyline to follow, especially with the Rick-led group of survivors finding a home in Alexandria. However, the "Richone" item might not take off, with Rick already poised for a romantic affair with Jesse (Alexandra Breckenridge).

"The Walking Dead" Season 6 will air on Oct. 11, 2015 on AMC.
