There are rumors that the Android M 6.0 OS will be arriving on a number of LG devices soon. The rollout is said to happen after Google completes the release of the new update to its own Nexus handsets.

Yibada reported that the LG G Flex 2 model will have the Android Marshmallow available soon. The Flex 2 can currently be upgraded to Android Lollipop 5.1.1. There are talks that the LG G Flex may not receive the Marshmallow update just yet. Slash Gear, however, wrote that the LG G Flex will also be upgradeable to Android 6.0 Marshmallow. Other LG devices that will most likely receive an Android M update will include the LG G3, LG G4, LG G Pad 10.1, and LG G Pad II 10.1. These said devices will not receive a vanilla version of the Android M, which will be implemented for the Nexus models. The LG devices will get the company’s own modified version of the new operating system.

As for the upcoming LG G Pad II 10.1, it may either run on the Android Marshmallow 6.0 out of the box, or come with the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop, upgradeable to Android M, Gizmodo stated. The tablet is slated to be launched before the end of 2015. There is still no news whether the LG G Pad II 8 and LG G Pad X 8.2 will receive the Android M update. Slash Gear also pointed out that the LG G Pro model and other devices that are not deemed as a top-tier smartphones may not get the Android M update.

Yibada also reported that the LG G2, LG G3 and LG G4 might go straight to the Android M update and skip the Android Lollipop altogether. It will not be the first time that the company will skip an update, considering how the Android 4.4.4 KitKat was passed up by LG before. There are other reports that at least the LG G2 will receive the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update first.

Android 6.0 Marshmallow will be the main operating system of the new Nexus 2 (2015) device. Google is reportedly aiming to launch the Android 6.0 M sometime in September or October 2015. The LG Nexus 5 and Huawei Nexus 6 will most likely be the first smartphone models to debut the new operating system. HTC devices, namely the HTC One M9 and HTC One M9+, may also run on the Android M out of the box. The LG G4 will possibly make the same move.
