Retired Chris Leben has been sentenced to 120 days in jail after pleading guilty to charges filed against him for bringing an assault rifle into the building of his estranged wife, Kaleena Leben last June 8 according to a report from TMZ Sports.

The 35-year-old former UFC fighter’s sentence follows his arrest that day which included charges on multiple counts. That included felony possession of an assault weapon and 11 counts of violating a court order.

Aside from the 120 days of jail time, Leben will also serve three years probation and be forbidden to have contact with his wife Kaleena.

It was on June 8 with Kaleena Leben called 911 to report that Chris was scaling a wall and break into her high-rise apartment. Chris reportedly had a loaded .45 caliber handgun with him at that time aside from the AR-15 assault rifle wearing a shirt which bore the phrase ‘Shoot First’. Chris would later on claim that the said rifle actually belonged to Kaleena.

“This case is a very serious incident,” the prosecutor told KGTV. “He broke into her home while she was there. He had a loaded gun on him. He also brought to the property an AR-15, which is an illegal assault weapon. So, it’s a very scary incident for our victim and it’s also important to let people like him know that these kind of things are going to be punished within our community and I think custody time was appropriate punishment in this case.”

Leben will serve the first 30 days of his sentence on September 21 and then serve another 30 days of work furlough.

The setup will thus allow him to leave to work. Should Chris meets the conditions, he may be transferred to probation for good behaviour.

For the record, this was not the first time that Leben has had a run-in with the law. He had already been arrested twice before on DUI charges. During his UFC tenure, Leben was suspended twice on account of failed drug tests.

Leben has long been out of the UFC scene, having announced his retirement on January, 2014 after 12 years. Apparently, Leben announced his retirement in light of losing four consecutive matches. To his credit, Leben was the WEC middleweight champion and made an appearance during season one of ‘The Ultimate Fighter’. It was here where he earned Knockout of the Night honors four times and Fight of the Night twice.
