New information about Sony’s new handsets recently surfaced. It is believed that the company will finally unveil three smartphones on September 2, 2015.

A leakster told Phone Arena that the Sony Xperia Z5, Sony Xperia Compact and Sony Xperia Z5 Premium models will be introduced on Wednesday. The Sony Xperia Z5 is said to feature a 5.2-inch display with a 1080 x 1920 resolution. The Sony Xperia Z5 Compact model will feature a 4.2-inch screen with a 720 x 1280 HD resolution and not the QHD screen as previously believed. The Sony Xperia Z5 Premium is said to feature a 5.5-inch screen and will have a 4K resolution plus a pixel density between 801 and 805ppi. The Premium model may also come with a 23MP rear camera that is capable of recording 4K videos.

The Sony Xperia Z5 model will reportedly run on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 chipset, with an octa-core 2.0GHz CPU and an Adreno 430 GPU. It will have 3GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage, an 8-megapixel front shooter and a 23-megapixel rear camera, based on the same Phone Arena report. It may also include a fingerprint scanner at the side. The power button and volume rockers were placed far below the right side on all three phones. This is believed to be designed like so to make room for the fingerprint scanning technology. Digital Trends wrote that the rear camera might showcase an f/1.8 aperture and be capable of recording 4K videos. It may also have USB Type-C support and a 4,500mAh battery. Although the device was previously rumored to feature the new Snapdragon 820, production for the new chip will not be ready until late in 2015 or early in 2016, so it is more likely that the Sony flagship device will run on the 810.

The Verge wrote that all three Z5 phone will have a 23-megapixel camera, fingerprint sensors on the side and a dust-proof and waterproof design. The main difference among the three will be their displays. The Xperia Z5 Premium will be the first 4K smartphone, with a 3840 x 2160 resolution.

Sony will be hosting its own event on September 2, 2015. The IFA 2015 trade show will officially start on September 4, 2015 in Berlin, Germany. Sony also introduced the Sony Xperia Z3, Xperia Z3 Compact and Z3 Tablet Compact at IFA 2014, so there is a huge possibility that a family of Xperia Z5 will be seen on either event. More details and updates regarding the three handsets are expected soon.
