Will there be a new line of GoPro cameras in October?

Reports say that the GoPro Hero 5 launch may be postponed to 2016 "due to a few upgrades that have to be incorporated into the device," as noted by Tech News Today.

"The creators are working to add a few tweaks which will make the device standout," the site said. "It seems the company is buying time to incorporate the appropriate technology, design, and innovation in order to compete with other manufacturers."

The launch pushback may be pardoned by GoPro fans as the action camera maker had released the Session back in July. The said camera, which is about 50% smaller than Hero4 models, is the smallest to ever come out of GoPro's assembly line.

Meanwhile, the Hero 5 is rumored to be smaller, lighter, and thus "easier to carry around."

"The cameras are expected to eventually reach a size which will be almost 50% of the Hero 4," Tech News Today said.

Looks like the GoPro Session is just the first of a new breed of action cameras.

"The Hero 5 is equipped with an 8K-video recording ability at full HD, which means the device will be able to capture high resolution footage, almost twice the resolution seen on Hero 4 Black," the tech news portal went on. "The Hero 5 is also expected to surpass the previous 30 framer per seconds (fps) seen on previous models, and will be capable of capturing 4k videos at 60 fps."

If this information is indeed spot on, fans can't be faulted for clamoring for an October 2015 release.

Considering such specs, the Hero 5 understandably won't be cheaper than the Hero4.

"Latest reports now indicate that the Hero 5 will have a price of $550 when it comes out by next year, contrary to rumors that it shall be priced $450," Master Herald relayed. "The GoPro Hero 4 is currently being retailed for around $500."

In addition, Gazette Review said the upcoming model may enable 3D video recording due to the unit's dual lens.

"To top it off, the GoPro Hero 5 will probably come with a longer battery life. The 2,800 mAh battery will provide two hours of video recording when fully charged. The Bluetooth feature will also be improved so that the upload speeds are faster than previous versions," it also added.

Looks like there is much to look forward to in the first quarter of next year, if that's the case. Let us know what you think!
