Fans of the "Turok the Dinosaur Hunter" N64 games will be happy to know that there are plans to bring back the original game plus its sequel "Turok 2: Seeds of Evil" for the PC.

According to PC Gamer, the games will be done by video game developer Night Dive Studios. Night Dive CEO Stephen Kick seemed very excited to work on the game, calling it nothing short of revolutionary for its time. Kick goes on to say that the original Turok game offered a combination of graphics and an open world environment that was not seen in any game at that point, and that Night Dive has something special in store for the remastered edition.

Night Dive Studios is best known for their work with previously worked ports of classic games such as "System Shock 2," "I Have No Mouth" and "I Must Scream."

The original versions of "Turok: The Dinosaur Hunter" and "Turok 2: Seeds of Evil" were originally released on the N64 gaming console in 1997 and 1998, respectively. The games were both received very well and went on to sell millions of copies.

Mashable states that another notable feature for Turok was the diverse range of weapons that were available to the players. "Turok: The Dinosaur Hunter" was originally placed in a prehistoric setting but gave a mix of magic, prehistoric weapontry, as well as advanced future tech. Weapons ranged from Turok's trusty bow and arrow, to magic spells, as well as homing missiles.

However, this is not the first time that the Turok series has attempted to make a comeback. Back in 2008, Propaganda Games released "Turok: The Dinosaur Hunter" for the PC, PS3 and the Xbox 360. The game stayed true to its original form, and was received with lukewarm reviews.

Kick reveals that the re-mastered version will receive several upgrades of the original game and will place gamers in several new environments, as well as a graphics upgrade. Currently, there is no word on the release dates for the re-mastered edition, but Kick is hopeful that the games will see screens in the very near future.

Night Dive Studios confirmed that the games will be available via Steam, the Humble Bundle store, GOG, Gamers Gate, Greenman Gaming and from Night Dive Studios' website. What do you think of the return of the best dinosaur game ever? Do you think the games are worthy of a re-mastered edition? Let us know in the comments below.
