Samsung is in the middle of its strong Galaxy S3 run, and reports around the web are already talking about the Galaxy S4, but that doesn't mean that the South Korean electronics company has forgotten about older devices. Samsung will be rolling out two upgrades to the Galaxy S2 lineup in the coming months: a new, more powerful variant called the Galaxy S2 Plus, and an Android 4.1.2 update for the Galaxy S2.

According to a report from Samsung-centric website SamMobile, Samsung will be releasing two colors of the Galaxy S2 Plus in Q1 2013. Chic White should release in the third week of 2013, and Dark Blue during the fifth week. The information comes to SamMobile via inside sources.

There is no pricing info available at the moment, but SamMobile states that the Galaxy S2 Plus should cost somewhere between a Galaxy S3 Mini and a Galaxy Premier.

Official specs aren't available either, but earlier reports do point to the following. The Samsung Galaxy S2 Plus will have a dual-core processor and a 4.3-inch Super AMOLED screen with a resolution of 420X800. It should also have an 8-megapixel rear-facing camera and a 2-megapixel front-facing camera. The Galaxy S2 Plus should be running Android 4.1.2 when it releases.

Owners of the normal Samsung Galaxy S2 won't be feeling out since Samsung is slated to release an official Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean update by early December at the latest. Firmwares have already leaked out, and there is a strong chance that the Galaxy S2 will get Android 4.1.2 before even the Galaxy S3 will.
