There are rumors that a Nexus 8 phone model will be out in the market soon. The device may run on the Android 5.1.1 operating system out of the box once it becomes available.

Mobipicker wrote that recently, a device said to be the Google Nexus 8 tablet was spotted on the Geekbench 3 test site. Based on the leaked image, the device will run on an octa-core processor, although the chipset is not yet known at the moment. There are speculations that the chipset may be made by Qualcomm, with a clocked frequency of 1.7GHz. Although the test featured the device running on the Android 5.1.1, the Nexus 8 is expected to launch with the new Android M.

There is not much information available about the specifications and design of the Google Nexus 8. What we know so far, however, is that the tablet is said to have an 8-inch screen. This could mean that the Nexus series will already feature different display sizes in one-inch increments. Available at present are the Nexus 7 and second-generation Nexus 7, which are both manufactured by Asus, the Nexus 9, which is made by HTC, and the Nexus 10, which is made by Samsung. It is possible that the Nexus 8 may be powered by a MediaTekSoC.

In comparison with the HTC Nexus 9, International Business Times wrote that the Nexus 9 has an 8.9-inch IPS LCD display with a screen resolution of 1536 x 2048 pixels. The new device operates on the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop OS out of the box and runs on a dual-core (NvidiaTegra K1) Denver processor, clocked at 2.3GHz.

Slash Gear reported that the Nexus 8 might be manufactured by Huawei, which may arrive later in 2015. The device might feature a quad-HD 6-inch display with 2K resolution and a fingerprint sensor. An image of the alleged upcoming smartphone was also featured, with a flat black rear, camera sensor and curved edges. The device is also said to feature a 20.7-megapixel camera and a processor made by Huawei More information might be available from Huawei at IFA 2015 in Berlin, Germany in September. Google has been working very closely with Huawei in the past few months with the intention of penetrating the Chinese market deeper.

Users are cautioned to take the new Nexus 8 details with a grain of salt. There has been no official confirmation from Google at the moment, so until then, the likelihood of the tablet not launching at all is also present.
