A new smartphone image surfaced online and its believed to be the backside of the upcoming HTC A9. The rumored handset is said to feature more powerful specifications than the brand's previous models.

Phone Arena reported that there were previous rumors that the HTC O2 and HTC Aero flagship models would launch in 2015. The latter device would be called the HTC A9 and will include a number of powerful features.

The HTC A9 is rumored to run on a deca-core CPU with the MediaTekHelio X20 chipset. The MediaTekHelio X20 processor will begin production in November 2015, which means that the new HTC Aero flagship model may launch in the fourth quarter of 2015. The smartphone is expected to have an all-metal body, aside from looking much like the Apple iPhone 6. It will also have 5.5 inches of display and 4GB of RAM, Mobipicker wrote. Based on the leaked image, the new phone has a flat aluminum rear and the same antenna lines that the iPhone 6 has are also present on the HTC device. The metal finish is shinier and the camera sensor is smaller on the gold HTC handset. The two phones were placed side by side for comparison.

GSM Arena stated that the HTC Aero may feature a QHD touchscreen protected by Gorilla Glass 4 and 2.5D curved edges. It may have a rear camera with f/1.9 aperture. The A9 is expected to launch in the United States via carriers Sprint and AT&T. There is a possibility that the device may be announced in October and become available by November 2015.

Mobillisimo provided an update that the leaked photo is actually a photoshopped backside of an Apple iPhone 6 which explains the close resemblance. The Apple logo and iPhone details at the back were replaced by the HTC logo and the rear camera was moved to the upper middle portion of the alleged HTC A9 device. A legitimate image of the HTC A9 is expected to come out soon, which will hopefully be confirmed by the company as well.

Another image also surfaced on Chinese micro-blogging site Weibo, which purports to be the real HTC A9. Phone Arena provided a photo of the supposedly front panel of the upcoming smartphone. Users, however, are cautioned to take the recent updates with a grain of salt until HTC makes an official announcement.

More details and news regarding the HTC Aero flagship model are expected in the coming weeks.
